Thats the same one that my wife wants, we went looking at bike last weekend and she fell in love with it, the pics on the web just dont do the bike justice. So I guess instead of me adding another bike to the stable
( I reallly wanted to add another naked bike along with the M )
we might be gettin a little cruiser, well not really that little its still 800cc.

This bike is real old technology, the M-50 feels lighter and handles way better.

I agree with spacecaveman. If she's anyting like my wife (DARE DEVIL). She'll be bored with it pretty soon plus the fuel injection is so much better

I really like my S50, but it fits my needs. I never do long rides, rarely over 50 miles in a day and sometimes 100 in the summer time. The S50 does about a 13.5 quater mile. Not too bad. Fast enough for me, and it is a cruiser so I don't do much road racing with it. It cruises really well at 65-70, and doesn't lose much with two up. It is a little on the small side for a large framed person. A larger bike would most likely offer a smoother ride for a long trip. So for around town, and short trips, and if your not 6 feet tall and over 190 pounds the S50 could be right for you.:)
The two reasons I purchased it were the looks and the price. Could not afford the S83 (which is a little slower than the S50) and really couldn't afford the bigger models such as the C90. Maybe I will trade up if I ever start taking longer trips.

I agree. I ride mine every day. Love it. I'm 210 lbs and it'll git up and go. I really like the liquid cooled and shaft drive. I do wish it was a little bigger. Yes it is old school but it will move

I'm looking for a first bike and like the looks of the S50 or S83. I'm 6' and 210 lbs - would I fit on the S50 and would the S83 be physically bigger or just a larger engine? Is this a bike you would recommend for a first bike? Thanks.

I'd probably recommend the M50 as a first bike. I just prefer fuel injected over carbs.

That being said, a gal that I know is selling her Honda Shadow and getting an S50 because she wants a pearl white bike. I asked her why she didn't just have hers painted and she asked me if I knew of any problems with the S50. My response, the only problem that I can see is that you'll have a bike payment again.

The S series of bikes by Suzuki are good old school /old tech bikes. Not that I know many, but I have never heard of a complaint about them by their owners.

At your size, the S83 might not be a bad option. If you have no motorcycle experience at all...go with the M50 or even the S50. But, you'll be trading up before too long. Yes, the S83 is bigger physically than the S50. Not massively bigger, but definitely not the same size.

I disagree with this statement. The S50 will outhandle the M50 in the twisties. My wife had both and ive ridden both. The M50 is about a 5 longer wheelbase. Peg clearance on the S50 is higher than the M50 as well. However the M50 is more comfy its a bit more stretched out like the M109. As a first bike or a cheaper bike to mess around with either are a great choice.

The only real problem I have is the OEM front pads are noisy. I installed high performance EBC pads on my S50. I do take mine on long trips. For a 1st bike...yes. It also handle well in down pours. I also ride the winding roads in the Blue Ridge mountains, on the Blue Ridge Parkway and it corners well. Great for city driving. With my big butt 46city, 52 hwy

The m50 weighs 584 pounds, hardly light at all. It just has a low seat height with low center of gravity which makes a lot of bikes feel lighter than they really are. My 2006 S50 Boulevard weighs 443 lbs. and the 2009 S50 Boulevards weigh 40 lbs. more. Still a 100 lbs less than a M50 or C50.
