It is a pretty good event, when the time gets closer I am going to try and get a group of 9's over for a drink and all ride down together. I am only about 8-10 minutes at the most from the fest grounds.

Yep, it should be real difficult seeing as though I live on the outskirts of the Quad Cities. I'll be there once again.

I like the ride up to Poopy's and to the Iron Horse Social Club. They have quite a few nice OLD bikes to check out at the Iron Horse.

I also like running up to Anamosa, IA. to visit J&P Cycles as well as the motorcycle museum.

A fun ride that I've done is up to Anamosa, across to Poopy's, and back to the Quad Cities for the evening. Hitting Poopy's at just about lunch time is great.

Also, cruising up to Galena along the river is a pretty good days ride for most people.

I'm in for whatever riding is taking place...except during the MMA fights as I'm getting in for free (I'm the driver for one of the judges who is currently without a license due to DUI).
The fights are Saturday, so it looks like I'm up for a ride on Thursday, Friday, anytime Saturday except the fights, Sunday, Monday....LOL

Planning on going all days. I work third, so I can go anytime Thursday but gotta leave by 9-ish. I've got Friday and Saturday off, so after I get off work Friday at 6:15 AM, I'm game! Let me know when the rides are, if you don't mind a V-Max hanging around! Jay

Mike, trust me...Bikes Blues & BBQ is MUCH better because there are very few fun roads to ride up in this area. Those that are curvy are generally so far away from each other as to not be fun to get to. (you know there has to be a reason why I'm willing to pack up for 1-2 week(s) at a time to come down there to ride)

it's mainly a gathering just like BB&BBQ, but it's only the size of a park so far. Only about 50K people over 3 days. It's pretty cool because it's right on the Mississippi River, but that's not enough to make me want to travel very far to go.

Don't get me wrong, there's some pretty cool stuff to see around the area. I really like the motorcycle museum in Anamosa, IA. They have a little bit of everything there. Definitely worth checking out. Not to mention J & P Cycles and Poopy's. Both are quite entertaining.

V-Maxes Rock...you're definitely welcome.

Jim, What day are we riding up to Anamosa? Friday would work best for me. If we take off in the morning...we could be there to have pizza for lunch at the bar across from the museum...I hear that the pizza there is really good.

Im having some job issues currently. If everything smoothes out and goes well i wont be at BB@BBQ this year im taking Karen to disney world in Florida for that week.

Ive got the vacation all set things are just not going as well as normal currently. Worst case scenario if you do see me at BB@BBQ its because work is not going so good and we do that instead.

Either way not a total loss

Mike,
Sorry to hear that things aren't going so well at work. Honestly, I hope that I don't see you two at BB&BBQ this year! Not because I don't want to see you or Karen. But, if I don't see you two, that means that you're on your vacation and having a GREAT time in the tropics!

btw, I'll be down in Missouri for 2 weeks...mayhaps we can all hit that ride down to the ferry crossing one day before ya'll take off.

That would be pretty cool. We havent been out riding since 3DDIM. Partly due to time and partly weather. Not sure about Karen but i know ill be all rusty and need you to take it easy on me

When are you planning the 2 weeks roughly?

Ctatyk
06-09-2008, 09:25 AM
I'll be heading down on Saturday September 13 and heading back home on Sunday September 28. Yes, that's correct...16 days off of work in a row!!
What's cool is that is only half of my vacation for the year!

Sorry to hear that you've not had many chances to ride! It's one of the only times when I feel surrounded by sanity rather than insanity!!! It's raining like crazy here and last night there were confirmed gusts over 60mph combined with the rain! I really need to get busy & build the "bike locker" that I'm wanting to build so that I can have a place to put it "inside" when the weather goes nuts like this!

Just heard that it is gettin moved from down by the river and they are currently looking for a new location as I type,

Reason being near record flood levels expected to be at the river front by Friday.

My guess is either the Fair Grounds on Locust Street or a Industrail Park area
????? ????????????????????????????

Any one hear anything post up

My guess from last night was correct...

If you have not heard they are moving the event to the Mississippi Valley Fair Grounds, the only thing that sucks now is that you have to drive down Locust street to get there, which is pretty much dead center of town, I bet there will be cops hiding like crazy everywhere,

Ctatyk

Nope, I'll hop onto I-80 and go around town.
BTW, Friday/Saturday...I should have a surprise to show ya'll!!!

Well, wherever I go on Saturday, I have to be back to the Quad Cities by about 2:30 because I have to pick up my friend & get over to the MMA fights because he has to be there to judge the fights. So, I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do any real riding on Saturday.

Ok maybe just up to Poppy's for lunch?

Ctatyk
06-13-2008, 11:48 AM
Poopy's for lunch would be cool. So long as we don't ride up or back on the Illinois side. At least not on the road that runs along the river!!! That's just TOOOO painful!
I'm thinking that cutting out early & hitting Anamosa for the bike museum & then across to poopy's for lunch would be a cool ride.
If we took off at around 7 or 8 in the morning...we should be able to make that ride. Or, if someone can't make the ride over to Poopy's, they could cut off when we cross Hwy 61 & head back towards the Quad Cities.

But, is there still anything left of Sturgis "IN" the River? Considering the fact that the storm ran right through there last night...I'm not sure!
Also, there is a swimming hole right in front of my drive right now...LOL

I'm glad the event was not canceled but the fair grounds are much smaller and parking is going to be a large pain. Also guessing there will be less eye candy this year DAM IT

Ctatyk
06-13-2008, 11:22 PM
There seemed to be a good deal of eye candy when I was there.
I also got to ride the Spyder!!! I was quite impressed with it, but the one thing that I love about the 9 is that it's so nimble for a bike that weighs over 700 lbs!!!

After riding the Spyder, my bike felt even MORE nimble!!! I noticed that it's a very heavy steering creature, but the suspension would be AWESOME on a longer ride. It soaks up bumps like they aren't even there. It provides perfect stability on gravel wash-outs, wet pavement, anything! I can understand why people are buying them...but they're definitely overpriced and I love my 9 way more than I'd love a Spyder!

Jim

Hey Ctatyk

Good call on the Spyder's I'm glad you rode one on Friday and filled me in on the street ride. I had a good time riding one as Jay stated its like a snowmoble on three wheels. I'm also glad that I had Saturday off work and was at Sturgis IN the river. The weather does not look that good for tonight O well the eye candy today and Friday night was hotttt :D

just to bad most of the eye candy was half my age

LOL...should have been at the fights!
I was sitting ringside and snapping pix of the hottie ring girls! Then, after the fights, I got a pic of one standing on my right, 2 on my left, and a hot blonde in my arms...it was nice...LOL

Not to mention getting my pic taken with the Hardee's Hotties...and the girls at the national guard bike...LOL

It was a PICTURE taking day...and I had a great time.

I'm sorry that you must have been cruising for grandmas....I happen to like them in their 20's...

Made it down to Strugis on Friday Night from about 7- 11:15, meet up with Tim and Jim, and I had a big group with me also, My friend Seth and Tim had a loud exhaust contest, they were both loud as hell.

Saturday had to work till 11, then I had a wedding at 1 and another at 4 then receptions, and what do you know I got caught in the rain, oh well I should be used to it by now, Had a boat load of people looking at my bike at the last reception in Blue Grass Ia, finally made it home last night at 11, wake up this morning to heavy hail, gotta love this weather.

Sorry I missed ya this weekend Bud, I wish I could have rode those spiders also you lucky dog.

I did get to see the semi on the interstate with the can-am logo and all of them inside leaving the fair

Mike...No problem on missing me at this one...
Weddings only happen once (well, that particular wedding) and should be attended! We can all ride whenever...it's not like we live a billion miles away from each other. Sounds like you had a blast!

Friday, I was a "little" busy getting inked. As Jim & Tim can attest..it's bad-ass!
I now have an alien atop the M109R (same exact as the sticker on the bike because it came from a pic that I took of said sticker) logo and a strawberry to the left of the logo to give props to my mum.

The rain was insane on Saturday, but I got some pretty cool pix of it too. I'll have to photo bucket my pix when I locate my patch cable for my camera. I think that my dumb arse left it at work! I'll have to do some more digging around here to see if it is perhaps in my bag somewhere.

I'd like to thank Jim & Tim & the rider of the rattle can V-Max for the run up to Go Fish! That was quite enjoyable! And yes, her panties were incredible! LOL
